How It Works
Glucosamine is a building block for glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans in cartilage. It stimulates chondrocyte production of cartilage matrix, inhibits cartilage-degrading enzymes (MMPs), and reduces inflammatory mediators in joint tissue.

1,500 mg daily (usually 500 mg 3x)

The GAIT trial showed benefits for moderate-severe knee OA. Long-term studies show cartilage-protective effects. Most effective when combined with chondroitin. Evidence is mixed but generally supportive for osteoarthritis symptom management.
