Key Benefits

Insulin sensitisation (PCOS treatment)
Anxiety and OCD support
Sleep quality
Cellular signalling

How It Works

Myo-inositol is a secondary messenger in insulin signalling, serotonin receptor function, and calcium mobilisation. It's the precursor to phosphatidylinositol in cell membranes. In the brain, it modulates serotonin and GABA receptor sensitivity, explaining its anxiolytic effects.

Dosage & Timing

Recommended Dosage

2,000-4,000 mg for PCOS/anxiety (up to 18g for OCD)

Best Time to Take

Before bed for sleep, or split doses for PCOS/anxiety

Recommended Form

Myo-inositol powder (or 40:1 myo/D-chiro blend for PCOS)

Side Effects

Very well-tolerated even at high doses. GI discomfort at very high doses (>12g). Mild drowsiness.

Drug Interactions

May enhance effects of SSRIs (can be beneficial). May affect lithium levels.

What Does The Research Say?

Strong evidence for PCOS (insulin sensitisation, ovulation restoration) at 4g/day. Research supports anxiety, OCD (12-18g), and sleep. The 40:1 ratio of myo-inositol to D-chiro-inositol mirrors natural plasma levels.
