01 What is Thymosin Beta-4?

Thymosin Beta-4 (commonly sold as TB-500) is a naturally occurring peptide found in virtually every cell in your body. Its primary role is promoting cell migration — it helps cells move to where they're needed for repair. Think of it as the peptide that tells your repair cells: go there, fix that. It first gained attention in racehorse medicine (where it's been widely used for decades to treat tendon and ligament injuries), then crossed into the human biohacking space. The appeal is its broad-spectrum healing potential: tendons, ligaments, muscles, cardiac tissue, and even neurological repair have all been studied.

02 How Does It Work?

TB-500 upregulates actin, a cell-building protein that's critical for cell migration, proliferation, and differentiation. By increasing actin availability, it allows cells to move faster to injury sites and begin the repair process sooner. It also has significant anti-inflammatory properties, reduces fibrosis (scar tissue formation), and promotes angiogenesis. The combination of faster cell migration + reduced inflammation + new blood vessel formation = accelerated healing from multiple angles.

03 What Does The Research Say?

Evidence Quality:

Moderate evidence. Some human data, mostly animal studies.

Animal research is extensive: accelerated wound healing, cardiac tissue repair after heart attack, reduced brain inflammation after traumatic injury, tendon repair, and corneal healing. The equine research is particularly strong — TB-500 has been used in racehorses for over 20 years. Human clinical trials are limited. A Phase II trial (Timbetasin) explored its use for chronic diabetic ulcers and showed promise. Anecdotal human reports are overwhelmingly positive for soft tissue injuries.

04 Reported Dosages

Research literature dosages only. NOT medical recommendations. Always consult a healthcare professional.

Research literature and community reports typically describe loading phases of 2-2.5mg twice weekly for 4-6 weeks, followed by maintenance of 2mg monthly. These are research dosages, not medical recommendations.

05 Side Effects & Risks

Animal studies show minimal side effects. Commonly reported in humans: injection site irritation, occasional head rush, mild flu-like symptoms initially. Theoretical concern about promoting growth in existing tumours (due to cell migration promotion), though not demonstrated in studies.
